There was shocking news for Take That fans this week when it was revealed that Jason Orange had quit the band.
As we reported earlier this week, in an official statement on Take That’s website, Jason said, “I have spent some of the best years of my life with Take That, and I’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey.”
Adding that his band mates – who of course are former X Factor judge Gary Barlow and his fellow singers Howard Donald and Mark Owen – are “like brothers to me,” Jason continued, “My gratitude goes to all of the good and kind, beautiful and ever-loyal fans of the band, without whom none of this could have been possible. Thank you.”
Also in the statement, Jason was at pains to insist there had been no rows backstage and that his decision to leave had been carefully considered for quite some time…
However, according to The Sun today, Jason decided to call time on his role in the band due to “crippling” stage fright and his desire to return to a life of anonymity.
A source close to the star said, “Jason hated being in [Take That] first time around,” before adding that his greatest desire is to travel the world unrecognised.
A friend of the singer added, “He feels he’s got his life back. He can now do what he wants to do.”
The paper’s article goes on to state that prior to the reformation of Take That, Jason had become a “recluse” who “rarely socialised”.
And apparently, a fan who recently spotted Jason was left upset when he refused to have his photograph taken.
The unnamed fan said, “We asked him for a quick picture and he said, ‘No, this industry makes me feel violated’.
“We were extremely polite but he point blank said ‘No’.”
