CONCERT - Gary Barlow to play Dubai Media City on October 17

Take That frontman and X Factor judge will perform on October 17

A piece of pop royalty is coming to Dubai.

Gary Barlow – a man who has penned 13 UK number one singles, been made an OBE and was called on to host the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert – will perform at Dubai Media City on Friday October 17.

The former frontman and principle songwriter of Take That, Barlow was behind an imitable string of radio-jamming hits in the early ’90s. Following an emotional reunion in 2005, the band have clocked 27 UK Top 40 hits, making them the most successful British boyband ever.

But Barlow is also something of a natural treasure, too, loved for his role replacing Simon in the UK X-Factor, renowned for his charity work and personally thanked by Price Charles for hosting his mum’s birthday gig.
Returning to solo performances in 2011, Barlow allegedly out-striped The Rolling Stones in ticket sales speed, and last year celebrated the release of his first full length solo album in 14 years, Since I Saw You Last. Daniel Craig may still the most famous former resident of Barlow's hometown of Frodsham, but things have rarely looked better for 43-year-old Gaz.

This Dubai gig marks the final date of his solo tour. Commenting on his forthcoming show in Dubai, Gary said: 'I’m very excited to round off such an enjoyable tour in such an incredible and iconic destination.'

Tickets go on sale at 9am today (Monday August 25) from Time Out Tickets, with early bird tickets starting at Dhs295. General admission tickets cost Dhs350, while seated tickets (Dhs450), golden circle (Dhs600) and VIP packages including food and drink (Dhs1,000) also available).
